Pastoral Support and Wellbeing

Pastoral Provision

At Sikh Heritage Girls School, our pastoral care is deeply rooted in our core values, which are inspired by the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Khalsa heritage. These values guide our commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every member of our school community is valued, supported, and empowered to flourish.

Core Values

Our core values are:

Self-Awareness (ਸਵੈ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ): We are on a journey to know our mind.

Effort (ਉਧਮ): We work hard to achieve our goals.

Perseverance (ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ): We keep going despite setbacks.

Courage (ਹਿੰਮਤ): We are not afraid to do the right thing.

Discipline (ਸੰਜਮ): We mould ourselves to become better each day.

These values underpin our approach to pastoral care, ensuring that every pupil develops into a respectful individual and a curious learner who is resilient in the face of challenges and has the ambition to reach their maximum potential.

Holistic Wellbeing through Sikh Values

Through Simran (focused practise), pupils learn to develop inner peace, focus, and resilience. Regular moments of reflection and mindfulness are integrated into daily school life to promote positive mental wellbeing and self-awareness. This spiritual practice encourages pupils to build patience, empathy, and emotional strength.

Positive Behaviour Management Guided by Core Values

Our behaviour policy embodies serving others  and humility, fostering respect, kindness, and responsibility across the school. We adopt a restorative approach to discipline that encourages accountability and growth, focusing on repairing relationships and understanding feelings rather than punishment. Positive behaviour is celebrated, helping pupils build confidence and a sense of belonging.

Valuing Every Individual through Sangat

We cultivate a strong sense of Sangat (community) where every pupil, staff member, and parent is respected and treated with dignity. Our inclusive culture celebrates diversity and promotes cooperation, kindness, and mutual support. Pupils are encouraged to develop confidence and self-respect while embracing Sikh values that promote harmony and social responsibility.
