Headmistress' Welcome
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਹਿ ॥
A warm welcome to Sikh Heritage Girls School.
It is a great privilege to be the founding Headmistress of SHGS and to lead a school with such a strong sense of purpose, identity and possibility.
As we move through our third year, there is already so much to celebrate. SHGS has grown in confidence, ambition and reputation, while remaining firmly rooted in the values on which it was founded. We have achieved a great deal in a relatively short time, and there is a wonderful sense of momentum across the school. It is an exciting place to learn, to teach and to belong.
Our ambition for every girl is high. We want her to acquire deep knowledge, think with confidence, communicate well, work with discipline and develop the resilience to meet challenge positively. Alongside this, we want her to remain grounded in Sikhi, secure in who she is and conscious of her responsibility to others.
Pupil progress sits at the heart of our academic work. Our focus is unwavering: we know our girls well, pay close attention to what they understand and ensure that learning keeps moving forward. Our curriculum is rich, demanding and purposeful, giving pupils the knowledge and experiences they need to achieve highly and to become thoughtful, independent learners.
I am proud to lead an expert and committed team of teachers who share my ambition for the girls and for the school. The strength of our leadership has been recognised beyond SHGS, reflecting the clarity, discipline and purpose with which the school is led. Our governors bring a wealth of experience, thoughtful challenge and a deep commitment to our continued success. Together, we are shaping a school known for high expectations, strong leadership and an unwavering determination to give every girl an exceptional education.
One of the things I value most about SHGS is the closeness of our community. Every girl is known and cared for. Her successes are celebrated, her next steps are understood and she is encouraged to take her place fully in school life. Pupils know one another across year groups, and this helps to nurture confidence, kindness and a strong sense of responsibility for one another.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is at the heart of who we are and who we are becoming. Through simran, Gurbani, reflection and service, our girls learn that education is not only about what they achieve for themselves, but also about how they use their knowledge, character and abilities in the service of others.
Our motto, Born to love, live to do, captures this beautifully. We want our girls to grow into young women who care deeply, think independently, work hard and have the courage to turn values into action.
I am immensely proud of what SHGS has achieved already and even more excited about what lies ahead. Our aspirations are high, our direction is clear and there is a real joy in seeing the school continue to grow and flourish.
I warmly invite you to visit SHGS, meet our girls and team, and experience our school for yourself.
